Kangaroo Point is an inner city area of Brisbane that is appealing to both property investors and home owners. Some of the reasons are that it provides a lay-back lifestyle while still being very close to the CBD, there are plenty of parks and greenspace and it is a quiet position. Others are that it has good choice for food and is walking distance to New Farm and Woolloongabba.
Kangaroo Point is so close that you won’t spend longer than 5-10 minutes to get anywhere. Regular bus services, bike paths along the river and River Ferry transport are all ways to get from Kangaroo Point to surrounding suburbs or Brisbane CBD.
There are not many shops in Kangaroo Point however the city or Woolloongabba provide the local supermarkets and boutique fashion stores. There is an IGA on Main Street and a couple of small convenience stores.
Kangaroo Point is well known for the Story Bridge Hotel or the Pineapple Hotel which are two pubs that are very popular. In terms of Cafes, the Bar Spritz café is at the top of the Kangaroo Point cliffs providing a great view of the river and the CBD. Other small cafes are a bit more tucked away but provide great food and atmosphere like Medley on the river. There are some great restaurants like Summer House or Mitoki for Japanese, but you’ll have to know where to find them.
School Catchment Zones
East Brisbane State school is the local primary catchment and Coorparoo Secondary College is the high school catchment.
Within Kangaroo Point itself there are a few options including outdoor rock climbing on the well known “Kangaroo Point Clfifs”. Other entertainment includes walks along the river front, the infamous stair run, a visit to Raymond Park to watch the local Kangaroo Point Rovers play, of a nice family visit to the Pineapple Hotel. If you are a young person, the German Club is always popular as is the Story Bridge Hotel.
