Gordon Park is quite a small and secluded suburb that is essentially a “pocket” that has Stafford Rd to the north and the remainder of the suburb is wrapped around by Kedron Brook Creek with plenty of bike paths and green space. The area is popular with owner occupiers and tenants due to the close proximity to nearby Stafford Shopping Centre, options of weekend relaxation and good transport access to the CBD.
Transport Options
Gordon Park has excellent road access via the tunnel on Stafford Rd as well as Lutwyche Rd to get to the CBD, Airport and surrounding suburbs. A trip from Gordon Park to the airport takes less than 10 minutes as does a trip to the CBD. While there is no train in Gordon Park, on the border of the suburb on Lutwyche Rd is the end of the busway with a large station meaning a bus trip to the city is quick and relatively traffic free making it very appealing for commuters.
Local Shops
Gordon Park does not have any local shops apart from a couple of small ones on Stafford Rd. The nearest shops are about a 5 minute drive to the west to Stafford City Shopping Centre which is a very large home maker and shopping precinct, or a 5 minute drive to the east to the smaller and recently renovated Lutwyche Shopping Centre.
Restaurants/Cafe
There are limited options within Gordon Park itself however in the neighbouring suburbs there are plenty of options. Within the suburb, there are only a couple of cafes on Thistle Street.
School Catchment Zones
Gordon Park is split into two primary catchments being Stafford State school and Wooloowin State School and for high school, the catchment zone is Kedron State High.
Recreation
Being a pocketed suburb, it has a very strong community presence and feel. Bike rides along Kedron Brook with kids is a common weekend activity, a visit to the neighbouring AFL club Gorillas at Hickey Park, a trip to the city or south bank on the busway or just a relaxing drink at the family friendly Stafford Tavern, are just a few of the options.
